History In the Making

Psalms 107:2 Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy;

Everything that we do begins with a call from God. Yes, God still speaks to his people. He still gives vision in hopes of finding someone who will answer the call. In June of 2015 God called his faithful servant Pastor Mark T. Mackey Sr. with the words of Isaiah 43:19 (NLT) "For I am about to do something new.
   See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland." With those words of God, Pastor Mackey set out to fulfill the vision of God. By June of 2016 Rev. Mackey had legally established Redeemed Christian Center. Six other faithful servants who believe in the ministry that God has given Pastor Mackey covered him in prayer. These include First Lady Katresha Mackey, Sis. Jurether Mackey, Sis. Barbara Smith, Sis. Sherrill Scott, Sis Felicia Collins, and Rev. Lexzell Tate who were also looking for a Major move of God as they realized that their current worship environment was not conducive to the spirit and truth that God requires. These 7 together would form the Board of Redeemed Christian Center. Many others began to contribute to this vision. The first "Official" Board meeting held in September 2016,on the campus of Lane College, Jackson Tn. It was a spirit filled meeting, full of prayer, thanksgiving, confirmation and encouragement. Pastor Mackey resigned his current assignment after 4.5 years from Macedonia Baptist Church, Jackson TN and on October 2nd. The group felt the move of God and set out to secure a worship space. Upon following the leadership of the "one and only wise God", they settled at the All Suites Hotel, Jackson TN. A bible study was held on October 26th 2016 and 59 members joined that night. They began to construct a place of "True Worship" where people can come to serve, worship, love, fellowship and reach out to the world through the power of God, without the shackles of tradition, politics, and other elements that make church-life unattractive in today’s time.  Redeemed Christian Center Held its very first Service at the All Suites Hotel Continental room. God continued to bless and the official Launch Service was held on December 11th 2016. After 4 months at the All Suites Hotel God made a way and RCC acquired its first home at 45 Broadview Dr. in Jackson TN. Members of RCC came together to complete a 30,000 Renovation project of a 6000 sq ft. closed fitness center and leased the building.

In August of 2017, RCC had grown to 132 members and is taking on many community outreach projects. And looking forward to seeing what else the Lord has in store.

The Saga Continues

Redeemed Christian Center was well on its way to being all that God would have it to be. The membership continued to grow, the spirit of God fell and blessings flowed.  In 2018, Clayton Bank who were the landlords of the 45 broadview location, merged with First Bank. This new landlord refused to honor the rental renewal of RCC and so a search for another home began. The members transformed every wednesday night bible study into a ferverent prayer meeting. Everyone prayed that God would lead them to a place of habitation. After an exhausting search, Pastor Mackey was led to the First Christian Church on Campbell Street. First Chrisitan Church was not for sale but the leadership was willing to consider. Afrer several meetings the two groups of officers from both churches decided that it was God's will to turn the facility over to Redeemed Christian Center. Financing was hard to find in the city for such a new church. One night the Lord spoke to Pastor Mackey and encouraged him to seek financing in another state. After a great deal of prayer, Pastor Mackey, Deacon Lester Cain and Rev. Lexzell Tate found themselves at the closing table on "Good Friday" April 19th, 2019. RCC closed the deal on a 29,900 sq foot church building, equipped with gymnasium, multiple kitchens, commercial appliances and fully stocked with everything that a church would need including pews and instruments.. "Won't he do it"?
